When it comes to the landscape you will find wildwest-romantic and desertlike mountain regions, always surrounded by a fertile oasis, with cactus and the typical Algarobo trees. The willows move with the wind, the pink pepper trees rustle, the apples dance on their branches and the parrots fly across the river. The canyons are steep and spectacular, the view over the Andes is breathtaking, especially when the sunset changes the rocks into a fantastic game of different colours."

We would like to present a passage of the horseback trekking guide "Reise Know How - Pferdetrekking", in which author Dagmar Elsen reports about the Hacienda Los Andes. (First edition 2002, published by Reise Know How publishing house, Germany,ISBN 3-8317-1091-0) "In the centre of a beautiful oasis at an altitude of 1000 metres in the desert of the mountain range of the Andes, close to a tiny village called Hurtado, there you will find the Hacienda Los Andes. Clark Stede from Germany and Manuela Paradeiser from Austria brought this wonderful 100 years old colonial style farm with bathing house back to life, after 30 years of leaving it to its own fate. As well as horseback riding excursions they also offer 4x4 tours and created a hiking trail just outside the hacienda for non-riders. On horseback they offer trips from one up to eight days, on golddigger- and Incatrails. The eight day tour includes overnight stays at the hacienda as well as in tents at outdoor camps, where you can experience the most beautiful starlit sky at night.
