Chilean Wine and Tours

Our region - Zona Limari: Grapes of the Zona Limari (IV. Region), in which our Hacienda is located, find perfect conditions to grow and to build a very special taste, thanks to the very good climatic circumstances. A lot of sun and only a few days of rain? the ideal conditions for quality wine-growing. Most popular red wine grapes are Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Negro, white wine grapes are Chardonnay, Moscatel de Alejandria, Rhin (Riesling), Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon. The grapes are not only used for wine production, but also to produce Pisco: this popular brandy is considered national drink thanks to it?s outstanding taste. The Pisco grapes grow on the vine until the region?s unique conditions of temperature and sun produce the high content of sugar, which is responsible for the fine taste and bouquet of Pisco.

Pisco Sour - a great national mix: Known as the "zona pisquera", the valle de Elqui, situated only XXX km north of us, produces grapes with a high content of sugar. These grapes, Moscatel de Alejandria, Moscatel de Austria, Pedrojimenez und Moscatel Rosada, are processed into the national brandy called Pisco (see description above). Chile was only able to keep the name ?Pisco? for it`s national drink, because the former President was very attentive: when Peru had plans to copyright the name of Pisco world-wide, the Chilean President Gónzales Videla renamed the former village of ?La Union? into ?Pisco Elqui?. Pisco Elqui is only a 27 km horseback trail away from us. Here you find a Pisco production, which is open for visits. Why don?t you try yourself making a delicious Pisco Sour? All you need is: lemon juice (200 ml), 2 teaspoons granulated sugar, ½ spoon eggwhite and of course Pisco (450 ml). Now you put all the ingredients in liquidizer and mix it for a few seconds. Lean back and enjoy the unique taste of an original Pisco Sour. But be careful: don`t underestimate the effects a Pisco Sour has!

Chilean wine at the Hacienda Los Andes: Convince yourself of the outstanding quality of the Chilean wine and the prominent taste of a Pisco Sour. At our Hacienda you have the possibility to visit several vineyards, among them the famous vineyard Francisco de Aguirre or a Pisco production in the surroundings. Here you will learn about vine production, wine-pressing, conservation and a lot more, not to mention the wine sample you will try in the old wine-vault. At the Hacienda Los Andes we produce our own home-made marmalade, fruit juices and bread, so we thought wine must be part of the program as well: so this year our first self pressed wine was born. And it?s only waiting for being tasted by you.
