Day 1

Transfer from La Serena/Ovalle or Vicuña to the Hacienda.

Overnight stay in a standard room with private bath.

Day 2

After breakfast you get to know your horse and the Chilean riding style. We set off at 10:00 am and pass through wild plateaus and canyons, riding through the endless Sierra, where we enjoy a picnic lunch and an original siesta. In the afternoon, we pass heights of over 2000 meters. Crystal clear air allows magical views down the valleys of the Andes. Camp is set in Maiten, an oasis village of the Andes. Dinner is served in front of the camp fire. 

Day 3

Today we leave the village of Maiten to ride for 7 to 8 hours through the colorful Andean mountains. Enjoy the tranquility and the spectacular views down from the Andean plateau. Today we camp in the valley of Vallecillo. Why not spend the night without a tent under the clear and star-filled sky of Chile.

Day 4

After breakfast we set off for a ride to hights of 3800 meters. Further up the surroundings are similar to the landscape on the moon: made up of stones and rocks. The wind is freezing and not far from us is still snow. Maybe we are lucky enough to see the famous condors – the giants of the air. Camp is set further down in the valley of San Augustin beside the river Hurtado.

Day 5

Instead of packing our saddle bags today we give ourselves and the horses a day off. Time to go for a walk along green fields, take a bath in the cool Rio Hurtado or just relax on the calm and quiet camping site.

Day 6

After a day of rest we are fit enough to start an intense day of ten to eleven hours of horseback riding. This day is probably the most beautiful of the whole tour. Once again we climb up on a height of 3800meters. The footprints of the puma on the sandy path show us how near this dangerous wild cats live. But don't worry the basic food of pumas are goats and there are plenty of those around. The landscape gets stonier and steeper and demands the total strength of our horses. Reaching the top we are rewarded by a stunning view. A moment we will never forget. Overnight we camp once again in Maiten.

Day 7

Today minerals let the Sierra shine in many different colors. We will be fascinated by the green Algarrobo trees, cacti as high as ourselves and the tranquility of the Andes. We arrive back at the Hacienda at 1:00 pm. Now it is time for a shower and rest before dinner is served on our terrace.

Day 8

Transfer to La Serena/Ovalle or Vicuña. Of course you are welcome to stay a little longer with us and take part in other activities.
