ASTRONOMY IN OUR OWN OBSERVATORY

The telescope is installed and the observatory has opened its doors.
Marvel at the multitude of stars on the Chilean night sky. Look from our Hacienda right into the center of our galaxy. From nowhere else on Earth will you see the Milky Way as clear as from Chile. With your bare eyes you can make out both Magellanic Clouds, the two satellite galaxies of the Milky Way. Triple star Alpha Centauri, the closest neighbour to our sun, the Southern Cross, which was used by sailors as an aid to orientation and the imposing Eta Carina nebula are just three of many other highlights.
Now let's risk a look through our telescope. What seemed to be a single star, transforms into a huge globular cluster. Discover star clouds, explore distant galaxies or the rings of Saturn. It's a wonderful experience for laymen and experts alike and an absolute must for anyone on vacation in Chile.
Allow yourself to be taken away into a marvelous world of galaxies, stars, nebulae and planets. Being far away from city lights and having an average of 310 cloud-free nights per year, makes Hacienda Los Andes the ideal location for the new observatory. It is equipped with a superb Astro-Physics refractor. (For more images, please click "PICTURES" on the right)
